Main Street Update

Planning for this week:

Midlands Contracting, Inc. plans to complete Storm Sewer work at 3rd & Main this week and will continue preparations to open the 3rd Street crossing.  A second crew will begin placement of the Sanitary Sewer and Manholes working North from 3rd Street toward 4th Street. Expect some Sewer Service Connections later in the week.

Some minor adjustments to the Temporary Traffic Control is planned for mid-week.

The removed concrete has been crushed to provide subgrade materials for concrete placement.

 

Sidewalk Requirements and Pedestrian Accommodations

The following guidelines are to help business understand planned sidewalk construction adjacent to entry ways.

  • Notify businesses and residents a minimum of 3 days before removing access and/or utilities to properties.
  • Contractor may close and detour pedestrians if alternate entrances are available and approved by respective business owners
  • Phase the construction of sidewalks to be built during non-typical work hours.
  • Furnish and install temporary access to buildings, across freshly poured sidewalk areas.
  • Complete access closure to businesses during operational hours cannot occur.
  • phase the sidewalk removals to leave a minimum four-foot-wide sidewalk in place to accommodate pedestrian access to businesses
  • furnish, install and maintain temporary construction fencing.
  • pedestrian detours shall be clearly posted
